How To Manually Hide/Remove System Tray In Windows 7

Last week, we covered how to hide/remove notification area (system tray) from Windows 7 taskbar with the help of System Tray Remover. As some of you might like to remove system notification area without using third-party tools, here is how to manually hide it.

 

# Type regedit in Start menu search box and hit enter. Click Yes for the UAC prompt.

# Navigate to the following registry key:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer

# In the right side, create a new 32-bit DWORD value and then change the value data to 1 to hide the notification area. To revert to default, change the value data to 0.

# Log off and Log on, or restart the explorer to see the change.
